7 Great British Bake off Disasters That Had Us Enthralled

The nation is in mourning; yes, Great British Bake Off has come to its climatic end and Wednesday evenings will now seem empty and void.

Yet, as we celebrate Candice Brown’s well-deserved win, it’s a good time to reflect on GBBO 2016 and take a look at some of the less successful baking moments that have made this season into yet another classic. Which is your favourite?

So, without further ado, let’s take a moment to revisit 25 of our favourite songs to evoke some nostalgia and make you cringe (in the best way possible!)...

15 Simple Ways to Spruce up Your Home

The smell of spring is finally in the air. It’s often still too cold to be working outside, but with the sun streaming through our windows, it makes us question what better time of year to renovate and refresh our interior home decor.

A word of warning, though. Once you start revamping your rooms, you may not want to stop! Although that’s not necessarily a bad thing. There’s no need to renovate every single room from top to bottom, unless, of course, you’re feeling incredibly motivated.

Instead, to save time, cost and personal effort, why not give each room in your house a subtle makeover? New flowers, a touch of paint on an accent wall and some new prints to decorate are rewarding forms of self-expression and creativity, and inject touches of personality into any home.

Due to the success of our first blogger event in October last year, we decided to host another! Last year, we had mummy bloggers, pastries, teas, coffees, cupcakes and a whole lot of sprinkles.

This time around, we had lifestyle bloggers, prosecco, soft drinks, freshly made Focaccia, homemade pizza with more fresh toppings than we can justify thinking about again (it’s lunchtime) and a new romance – but more on that later.

The team from I Just Love It (IJLI) and a group of lifestyle bloggers, including Copper Garden, Sweet Monday, Blonde Vision, Boo and Maddie, Just Nice Things, Loved By Laura, Do Not Refreeze, Britton Loves, Love Audrey, Tink Jayne, Ess Bee Vee, Popcorn and Glitter, Lucie Loves It, Dream In Pink, Loula Beth, Emma Louise Layla, Floral Etiquette, Two Different Worlds and Pretty and Polished.

We Just Love the ‘90s

So, we’ve covered all the things we love in the ‘60s, ‘70s, the ‘80s, and now we’re onto the ‘90s.

Oh, the nineties. What a sweet, sweet childhood that was. Remember the ginormous mobile phones? Alcopops? Kickers shoes? Tamagotchis? Not to mention Walkmans, Blur, Oasis, Byker Grove... the list goes on.

Once you’ve read this list of precious memories, if you aren’t craving to go back in time to the ‘90s, all the bizarre knick-knacks and food, then there’s something seriously wrong.

Recipe of the Month: Caramel Mud Pie

It’s that time again... for the recipe of the month. Yippee!

As you can see from previous months’ recipes, we’re hardcore sweet-tooths here at IJLI Towers.

So far, we’ve covered banana egg pancakes, fudgy brownies and last month, it was salted caramel millionaire’s shortbread.

And this week? It’s Caramel Mud Pie, courtesy of our Digital Marketing Manager, Paul Sheridan.

We Just Love... the 70s

Last month, it was the 60s, and this month, it's all about the 1970s! Granted, we didn’t have Google, iPads, Facebook or One Direction in the ‘70s. But we did have disco music, penny sweets, space hoppers and SO much more. Take a trip down memory lane with us to the era of pet rocks, flares,Wombles, and more in our list below…

Disco Music

If there’s one quintessential image of the 1970s, it's that of John Travolta as Tony Manero in a white suit shaking his booty on the dance floor. Fuelled by the film Saturday Night Fever, the disco scene erupted on the pop landscape, spawning more movies and the phenomenon of the discotheque. We’re talking ABBA, Donna Summer, The Village People, Dance Fever, Bee Gees...

Recipe of the Month

Each month, we get all the guys ‘n’ gals at I Just Love It Towers to submit a recipe, and then we pick the best one. And this month, our lovely PR Manager, Sophie Collier, picked this rather scrumptious banana egg pancake recipe. Yum!

What’s more, you can make it in a jiffy using just two ingredients – banana and eggs. It’s true, we promise. One banana and two eggs will rustle up a cracking pancake for one person – not to mention one that’s crammed with vitamin B6 which you normally find in fish and meat.

We Just Love... the 80s

There’s nothing quite like the 1980s era, right? There’s just way too much to reminisce about – the awesome music, the revolting, mortifying outstanding fashion, the TV shows, the movies. Yep. The 80s were a treasure-trove of phenomenon, and undeniably the greatest decade for a little one to grow up in, for sure. From spokey dokes and floppy disks to Grange Hill and Madonna, we’ve rounded up all the things we just love about the 1980s…
