Style newcomers (Male First Name) and (Female First Name) have won this year’s Daily Mirror Best-Dressed Couple Award.
The couple, from (Live In), beat a host of other chic celebs to the gong, including Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.
Millions of TV viewers saw a packed auditorium, at Las Vegas’ Palms Casino on Tuesday night, gasp as the names of the couple were read out.
The pair beat bookies’ favourites David and Victoria Beckham, who earlier had wowed fashion pundits by arriving on the red carpet wearing matching kimonos and hair extensions. They left the star-packed ceremony shortly after the shock announcement, accompanied by pal Elton John. A waiting photographer said, “David and Victoria appeared to be shaken by this tragic turn of events.”
Meanwhile, inside, a victorious (Male First Name) said, “This is amazing; I think I speak for both of us when I say that we never expected to be nominated for this award, let alone to win.”
A shocked (Female First Name), added, “Actually, we didn’t even realise we had been making fashion-waves so to speak…I just can’t take it all in.”
Arriving fashionably late, (Female First Name) was sporting a pair of her favourite jeans and heels, whilst (Male First Name) was favouring a slightly more crumpled look – a style now expected to dominate next season’s catwalk shows.
In the wake of the sensational win, the pair has been in demand from media style pundits. It is rumoured they have bookings to appear on Graham Norton’s fashion slot, and a meeting pencilled in with Karl Lagerfeld, to discuss a launch of their own brand of smart casual wear – these style icons have a busy time ahead!
Back in the UK, family and friends are now calling the couple the ‘new fashion royalty’, and one close friend said, “(Female First Name) is a born clothes horse and as a couple they exude elegance, style and individuality.”
