Personalised Blackburn Rovers Football Book - Gift Details

Personalised Blackburn Rovers Football Book

Football fans. Some of them border on the obsessive, right? They’ve got the shirts – home and away. They go to every game – home and away. And they lead the terrace sing-song – home and away. Founded in 1875, the team have since earned themselves a serious following of fans.

So just what do you get the football fan who’s already got everything his team has to offer? Why, the Blackburn Rovers Football Book, of course! As one of only three founder-member clubs of both the Football League and Premier League, Blackburn Rovers are steeped in history. Starting in 1907, this Football Book recounts it all.

A Glimpse Inside…

Blackburn Rovers are perhaps best known as the only club to have ever broken the monopoly held on the Premier League by United, Chelsea and Arsenal. With the club’s saviour and benefactor, Jack Walker looking on, manager Kenny Dalglish guided the club to the title in ’92 – with goal machines Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton provided the ammunition.

Here’s your chance to relive, through reprints of original newspaper reports, this golden period. Plus, you’ve got coverage of the side’s league titles in 1912 and 1914, their Cup Final victory in 1928 and much, much more.

Enjoy a Newspaper History of the Rovers

Blackburn Rovers FC formed in 1875 and became a founder member of the Football League three years later. The club enjoyed much success in the early decades and won five FA Cups by the end of the 1920s. Rovers had also become First Division Champions in 1912. The club slipped out of the First Division in 1966 and found it difficult to regain their position at the top of the game. Joy returned to Ewood Park in the 1990s however, as lifelong fan Jack Walker bought the club and invested time and money into the team. Blackburn Rovers won promotion to the Premiership in 1992 and became champions three years later. A significant part of this revival was the appointment of Kenny Dalglish as manager.

Finally – Did You Know?

  • Blackburn Rovers was a founder member of the original Football League and later the Premiership. Only two other football clubs were founder members of both leagues - Aston Villa and Everton.
  • Jack Walker bought Blackburn Rovers in 1991 when the club was struggling in the Second Division. It took just four seasons for Rovers to become Premier League Champions.
  • Blackburn faced Liverpool on the final day of the 1994-1995 campaign. A win would have guaranteed the Premiership title and consigned Manchester United to second place. As Rovers’ manager Kenny Dalglish was a former Liverpool legend and Manchester United had a bitter rivalry with the Reds, much controversy filled the build-up to the game. Blackburn Rovers were in fact defeated 2-1 by Liverpool. They still won the title however, as Manchester United could only draw with West Ham.
  • Jack Walker passed away in 2000. A statue of the former Blackburn owner was erected at Ewood Park and a stand was also named in his honour.
  • Blackburn Rovers qualified for European competition three times in the space of five years between 2001 and 2006.
