Personalised Ipswich Town Football Book - Gift Details

Our nationwide pastime isn’t just a sport. It’s also a multi-billion pound trade with foreign investment causing salaries and fees to go through the ceiling. There’s a lot of money in the game, and the future of football is fairy unclear, but what we do know is football’s history is still there for everyone to enjoy. And that’s what this Ipswich Football Book celebrates – a book packed with newspaper articles about the club’s past.

From the Tractor Boys’ entry into league football in 1938, through to the end of last season, this football book features all of Ipswich’s biggest moments – both domestically and in Europe.

Sir Alf Ramsey. Sir Bobby Robson. A Division One title. An FA Cup. A UEFA Cup. For something of a provincial side, Ipswich Town have had some great names to match some great success. The 1970s and 80s were undoubtedly some of the biggest periods for club, culminating in the FA Cup in ’78 and UEFA Cup in ’81, both under the guidance of Sir Bobby. Mind you, memorable campaigns in the Premier League would also follow in the 90s and noughties, all of which are covered in depth through reprints of original newspaper reports. And as you’d hope, legends including Ted Phillips, Mick Mills, Frans Thijsse, John Wark, Kevin Beattie and Ray Crawford.

All the articles are printed on luxury paper and independently cut and bound in a hardback book.

Now available with colour print option for coverage from 2006 onwards.

Enjoy a Newspaper History of the Blues

Ipswich Town FC was founded as an amateur team in 1878. The Blues turned professional in 1936 and joined the Football League in 1938. Alf Ramsey became manager of Ipswich in 1955 and he immediately led the club to a third place finish in Division Three. The Blues won the title in the following season and Ramsey guided Ipswich to the Second Division title five years later. The football world was stunned when Ipswich Town went on to win the First Division championship in their debut top flight season. The club’s form stalled in 1963, however, as Alf Ramsey departed to manage the national side. Bobby Robson brought success and trophies back to the club when he became manager in 1969. Ipswich Town regularly featured in the First Division’s top five places and they competed in the UEFA Cup during the 1970s. The club won the FA Cup in 1978 and the UEFA Cup in 1981. The Blues finished as runners-up of the First Division in 1981 and 1982.

Ordering process for this product needs improvement as you can't select a & or + sign and apparently it doesn't go in automatically. Customer services dealt with the issue to my satisfaction but I think the process for buying this particular product could be improved so people don't have to contact customer service at all.
