Arise, Sir (Male First Name)
Top Honour for (Lives In) man
Knighthoods aren’t ten a penny in (Lives In), but (Male First Name) (Male Surname) stunned locals by appearing on this year’s Honours List – and claimed his honour from the Queen herself in a ceremony at Buckingham palace.
Flanked by members of the Household Cavalry Regiment and standing just outside Buckingham Palace, the (Lives In) man beamed and held up his honour in its presentation case, as photographers struggled to get a good shot of Sir (Male First Name).
“I really can’t believe it,” he said, “This has been the best day of my life and I am ecstatically happy.”
(Male First Name) found out about the news when he took a telephone call from a representative from Buckingham Palace. “I really thought it was a friend winding me up,” he said, “It took some time for the news to sink in – in fact I think I am still dreaming!”
Surrounded by figures from the worlds of showbiz and sport, (Male First Name) was dressed soberly for the occasion, but caught the attention of photographers and film crews even as he approached the palace in a chauffeur driven Bentley. Friends and well-wishers whooped and cheered as he went through the palace gates.
When (Male First Name) approached the Queen, onlookers said the pair remained in animated conversation for some time. “The Queen was fantastic,” said (Male First Name), whose award at the age of (Age) was in recognition of services to the community.
“The Queen was very sweet, not at all formal - I was very flattered that she was able to present my award personally. This is the greatest honour I have ever had.”
Veteran royal-watchers said this was one of the most star-studded events in years – and that rarely had the Queen taken so much time to talk to someone.
(Lives In) historian Albert Thirlwell said, “This is a prestigious honour, and I never thought I would live to see someone from our community be presented with it. But having read all about Sir (Male First Name) I have to say he thoroughly deserves it.”
