Personalised Football Calendar - Norwich City
Fabulous Gift Idea For Norwich Fans!
Since originally forming in 1902, Norwich City has gone through a series of mixed fortunes. Although relegation and financial problems have been a thorn in the club's side, highs of top flight football and entertaining cup runs have surely outweighed the darker days. In 1962, Norwich won their first major trophy, becoming only the second club to win the League Cup. Thirty years later, City was a founder member of the Premiership and went on to finish the competition in third place, despite a negative goal difference. The result meant Norwich City could finally play in Europe during the following season. A match on the continent had been a long time coming for the Canaries, as the club had previously qualified three times for European competition, but had been prevented from entering due to the English ban following the Heysel tragedy.
Our Personalised Calendars feature twelve Norwich City newspaper match reports, including the club's first ever European fixture and many other significant games from the past hundred years. Starting from the month of your choice, these A3 Calendars are a fabulous gift for fans of the Canaries and make a perfect present for any occasion!
Calendar Highlights
These Personalised Calendars incorporate match reports on many of the domestic cup highlights that Norwich has enjoyed over the years.
In 1937, the Canaries opened their cup credentials with a 3-0 victory against Liverpool in the FA Cup third round. In 1959, Norwich City became only the third ever club from the Third Division to reach the FA Cup semi-final, following a 3-2 win against Sheffield United in the quarter-final replay. This win was essential to the team, as the increased fixtures had led the Canaries to fall away in the league. There was even more fixture congestion in 1963, as a particularly bad winter meant that Norwich had to play five FA Cup matches in just twenty-six days. Although the team got to the quarter-finals, the highlight of the campaign was undoubtedly the 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield United, with Terry Allcock scoring four of the goals.
The Canaries soon carried their success over to the League Cup and with one trophy already in the cabinet, the A3 Calendar focuses on three further terrific triumphs from this competition. During the 1972 campaign, Norwich City annihilated Blackpool 5-1. In 1975, the team beat Manchester United 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final, before winning 3-2 on aggregate. Finally, in 1985, City beat Grimsby 0-1 in the quarter-final on the way to clinching their second cup.
In addition to these cup highlights, our popular Calendar Gift also features the 4-3 victory against West Ham from 1935, which was the first official game to be played at Carrow Road. We have also included the 2-0 win against Stockport that earned a Championship play-off place in 2002, and also a report on the club becoming First Division Champions in 2004.
