Recipes from 1970s Newspapers
- Gift Details
Travel back in food history to a bygone era with our Recipe and Cookery Ideas from the 1970s Newspaper Book. As a decade of social progressive values in the western world, Britain saw a rise in the liberalisation of women, with figures like the first female prime minister, Margret Thatcher and food icons like Penny Burton and Delia Smith.
Women's empowerment grew; with many women in employment, it meant quick and tasty meals for the family were essential. With the help of the fridge-freezer phenomenon, recipes in this book reminisce those changing days. From famous treats like Delia's 'Treacle Roley Poley' to Penny's 'Bean and Rice Casserole', digest and learn about the selection of freezer foods that meant speedy, nutritious meals for all the family.
With great hints and tips to make delectable food out of frozen veggies, the Family Food Guide column was essential for working mums and hungry mouths for healthy, trouble-free meals. Now you can reminisce the decade vastly dominated by social and political change, and the developing food history that defined the era.
With no embellishments or adjustments, this book mirrors the condition of the newspaper as it was first printed, including original adverts. Social change was of prominent political importance during the decade and newspapers sought to reflect this change. Take a trip back in time and reminisce the tasty meals of the ‘70s.
