- Gift Details
The legendary Blades have been stacking up mighty records over the last 100 years – imagine if you could experience for yourself the thrill of those winning games? Well, we don’t have a time machine unfortunately, but the Personalised Sheffield United Book is the next best thing.
Founded in 1889, but picking things 23 years later, in 1912, this football book charts Sheffield United’s fortunes – from successful league championships and Cup Finals, to the Premier League years.
Here’s a football book that really gets going with a bang, thanks to the club’s FA Cup success in 1915. Ten years later they secured their fourth, before being edged out in the 1936 final. As you’d expect, they all feature here, through reprints of original newspaper reports.
On top of that, the Blades’ Second and Fourth Division titles of 1953 and 1982 are also included, while just as importantly, you’ll also get to read about the exploits of club greats, including Joe Shaw, Harry Johnson, Len Badger, Tony Currie and Alan Woodward. All in all, it’s a great gift for any lifelong Blades fan.

Sheffield United FC was founded in 1889. The club reached the top flight for the first time in 1893 and won the First Division title five years later. By 1925, the Blades had won the FA Cup four times. The fourth win occurred in 1925 against Cardiff City. This was the first time that United played a Cup final at Wembley Stadium. The decision to sell prolific forward Jimmy Dunne in 1933 proved to be disastrous. Sheffield United struggled to score goals and the team was relegated after thirty-seven years in the top flight. The Blades won promotion before the War, but fell down again in 1949. Sheffield United went on to win the Second Division Championship in 1953, having scored ninety-three goals in the season. The inconsistent form continued, however, and the club spent many seasons moving between the two leagues. In 1971-1972, United enjoyed a streak of twenty-two matches unbeaten. The Blades reached the First Division during this run of results and they stayed in the highest division for five years. Sheffield United also enjoyed a notable period in the top flight during the 1990s, including two seasons in the newly formed Premier League.
A Sheffield United Gift Book can be an inspired present for a fan of the Blades. It is unique, smartly presented and filled with fascinating newspaper reports on the history of the club. Being able to personalise this Sheffield United Football Book makes the gift even more special and shows the thought that has gone into buying it. This Sheffield United Football Book opens with a 6-2 win over Manchester City in 1912. It goes on to cover a selection of great games through the decades of the 20th Century and many highlights from the present era.
Memorable games in this Sheffield United Football Book include the 3-0 victory over Chelsea to win the FA Cup in 1915 and winning the Cup again in 1925, this time beating Cardiff City. The Gift Books also feature the FA Cup final of 1936 and many exciting, high-scoring matches. Relive the Blades’ 6-2 thrashing of Arsenal in 1921, the 11-2 wipe-out of Cardiff City in 1926, the 6-0 hammering of West Ham in 1931, the 7-3 victory over arch rivals Sheffield Wednesday in 1951 and the 5-0 win over Aston Villa in 1969. Other highlights in this Sheffield United Football Book include reports on the appointment of Dave Bassett in 1988, the signing of Vinnie Jones in 1990 for £750,000, several heart stopping play-offs, and the joy of promotion to the Premiership in 2006.
