Personalised Football Calendar - Sheffield United
A Superb Gift Idea For Sheffield United Fans!
Sheffield United formed in 1889 following a meeting at the Adelphi hotel - now known as the Crucible Theatre, home to the Snooker World Championships. Like so many other football teams, Sheffield United started out as a cricket club. The plan was to introduce football as a way of keeping the side together during the off-season and a means of guaranteeing revenue through the winter months. Football soon became the main sport at the club however, and by 1975, cricket was no longer played at the club's grounds. Bramall Lane is the oldest football stadium in the world. It was first used in 1862 and in 1878, the Blades played in the first ever match to use floodlights. The stadium has witnessed many magical moments and over the years, as Sheffield United has won the First Division title and multiple FA Cups.
