WW1 Armistice Book and Remembrance Coin
- Gift Details
In homage to 100 years since World War One, this special-edition Armistice book and Remembrance coin is a keepsake of one of history’s greatest tragedies. On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front came to an end. The WW1 Armistice book is a remnant of this defining moment, recording the events as they originally happened through World War One newspaper coverage.
Bound by hand, the A3 special edition book begins in 1914 with the murder of Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife, the Duchess of Hohenberg, detailing extensive coverage of each moment thereafter. The poppy-red leather is a nod to the only plant that grew upon the otherwise barren battlefields and the cover itself features The Ode of Remembrance embossed in the MacDonald Gill typeface used on the war graves.
Specially-commissioned by Royal Mint, the £2 remembrance coin is officially uncirculated and housed inside a card wallet containing information about the war. The coin is dated with the year of the Armistice and the phrase ‘The Truth Untold. The Pity of War’ is inscribed on the face of the coin.
The poppy-red book is embossed with the individual’s Name on the cover, with up to 22 characters over one line. The Name will also appear on the certificate on the title page where you can also add a Message of up to 150 characters over five lines, with up to 30 characters per line.
The WW1 Armistice Book and Remembrance Coin has been produced by Signature Gifts in conjunction with the Royal Mint and Historic Newspapers. The set features Royal Mint £2 coin and special edition WW1 Armistice book, all presented inside a luxury gift box. The box set is of limited availability.
